During December I started conducting a survey of business owners (if you’re an owner, please take the survey by clicking the link below; it is 10 multiple choice questions and only takes a few minutes). The early results show that 75% of businesses are going to focus on growth or rapid expansion in 2012 (the other options to choose from are survival and maintenance).
Contrast this with a survey done by SunTrust bank in 2008-2009. In their study, only 29% of owners were focusing on growth opportunities. As volatile and erratic as the economy has been, this is a great change.
I know many businesses still experiencing tough times. But as I review the responses from a wide variety of business owners I have to believe that if attitude is a key ingredient of an economic recovery we are on the right road.
I’ll be sharing more results with you over the next few months.
But economic recovery must be earned. And it will be earned by entrepreneurs and it will be earned by small businesses. Jon Huntsman, Jr.
