Quality is Best

As we end 2024 one thing every business should strive for in 2025 is quality, of their product, service, people, etc. I got the thought for this in the grocery store last weekend.

Our cashier was a pro and took her job seriously. She didn’t need to go through a long lookup process for items without a barcode (like we do when using self-checkout). Whether it’s green beans, melon, garlic or anything else she quickly entered the code, put it in the bag and moved on. Contrast that with others who take forever. This is a great employee.

But quality of product doesn’t always matter if the right people aren’t in place. I had a small project to do, got out some clamps, and a screwdriver and both were Craftsman and very old. The products lasted but the company didn’t. Last I heard there are like eight Sears stores left.

People are every business’ number one asset and as Nika Toce said at our Getting the Deal Done Conference, they don’t show up on the balance sheet. I’ll add, they show up on the P&L when they produce profit.
