Recently my Rotary club (Bellevue Breakfast) held our annual changing of the officers’ dinner and party
I was the outgoing president and I was honored (and surprised a few days prior) when my good friend Cordel Josiah arrived from Antigua. Cordel came to show his Rotary club’s appreciation for the five projects our clubs have done together.
Those projects have put over 1,250 computers in schools, provided 6,000 illustrated dictionaries to third grade students, given sewing machines and lessons to underprivileged ladies, donated pallets of school supplies, installed a video teleconferencing system between Antigua and Barbuda and more.
As Cordel addressed our gathering and told our members the impact this has had on his small island, it made me realize that while this stands out as making an impact, what all of us do everyday makes an impact (as I know the readers of this newsletter are leaders and change makers).
You’re making an impact whether you:
- Provide jobs and a lifestyle to others
- Guide clients so they can better buy or sell a business or do better in the business they’re in
- Lend money to or invest in companies so they can do better (and provide more jobs)
- Work with non-profits, either in a paid or volunteer position, to assist those in need
There are a lot of ways to make an impact. Outside of business I’ve been focusing on my Antigua projects and it was rewarding to hear Cordel state how his citizens view the impact of those projects. I hope you have something that similarly drives you.
